Upgrade rear gear on a 4.8 truck?

Well the 4.8 is kind of a turd with 3.42 gear

Put 17" rims & 265/70 tires and it kills it even more.

Stock tire diameter is 30" the 265/70/17" is a 31.5"

I'm sure it takes more to keep it moving with these 17" tires

I do more city driving than freeway anyhow but the gear may help

Has anyone put 3.73 gear and liked it over 3.42?

I have a chance to get an 02 escalade rear end with 3.73 & posi for $100

We pulled the rear from the escalade & it has 138k miles and didn't howl.

I know the guts are the same & housings are different

Also I know 3.73 isn't much of an increase but for the price it's a good deal, plus I do my own rear ends on posi & gear swaps. Ill measure the current backlash & reinstall with the same.
