Mine is stamped on the passenger side of the axle right by the pig.

OH well you have a 6.2. Didn't all the 6.2's come with 9.76 axles?

I have a 5.3 with 3.42's I am pretty sure mine is a 9.5

Yours should be 9.5 12 bolt just like mine.

Correct, I am pretty sure the 6.2l trucks got the bigger rear end and maybe the max tow trucks, I think.

It looks like a complete 9.76" axle 3.73 geared rear goes for @$2000 and the fronts 3.73 another @2000. Right now I have the 9.76" axle 3.42's in my truck.....my idea would be this. If anyone would be interested in my complete 3.42's front and rear differentials for @$3000 I would venture to do the complete rear swaps. My truck has 12,000 miles on it and zero drivetrain issues.

I find it amazing that after almost two years no one makes a gear swap option for the 9.76" axle. I've spoken with East Coast Gears and they are willing to do a swap just need a 6.2L truck to do it on.

Too bad they are in NC not NJ.

Call Randy's Rack & Pinion, talk with Joe, he can tell you a shop near you that can do the swap. I'm using Carlton Customs in Greenville SC., going to pick up the truck today. I'm told the speedometer is off by 10 mph, you I'll have to get that recalibrated, and check the tune, but I'm eager to see the difference in my 5.3L Edelbrock Supercharged motor with a 4.10 gear over the stock 3.42 gears! :)

Do you have the 9.76" rear end or 9.5"?

Eventually, I'm gonna do this to mine. Doing the gear swap and such.
Only bad thing about finding a 6.2L in my area, just the gears are terrible.
3.08s/3.42. I have the 3.08s, I think. I'm gonna get 3.73's at least.
