Missing bolts

I was detailing my truck today and noticed two bolts were missing inside the front passenger door jam. The bolts join the door hinge to the fender. I can tell the bolts used to be there because I can see where the washes wore the paint on the bracket. The truck was a demo that the finance manager drove. If the dealership fixed something bad enough that they had to pull a fender off should that have been disclosed to me? I'm going to take it in Monday and see what they say. What do ya'll think?

My take is that the truck had an in-house fender repair done. Unlikely the door needed adjustment following factory assy.

Me and my brother looked at it some more today, its not actually part of the hinge. It is just the fender bracket. I'm going to call my salesman in the morning and see if he will give me any info. At the very least I want a explanation, to see a clean carfax, get some bolts in it, and have them look it over really well and make sure nothing else is missing.

It is just as unlikely as vibration problems, badly assembled rear ends, water leaks, bad radios, shifting seats, etc.

Forget the CARFAX. If the vehicle was un-titled, chances are high the dealer repaired the truck without filing an insurance claim wherein no Carfax history would show up. Besides the dealer was legally obligated to show you a car fax on the vehicle when purchased if it was sold to you as a used vehicle. As to the salesman, I'd be shocked if he/she had a clue concerning any prior repair to the vehicle. Best head to the service manager and general manager with your concerns.

I took it by the dealer today. The sells manager looked it up and the only record was the windshield had been replaced. Once we got to talking they did say that several of the early trucks had a leak on the firewall due to a missing piece of weather stripping. They told me that the regular shop made the repairs early on, but they have since started having the body shop do it, so it sounds like I'm not the first one missing bolts. They are going to put the bolts in on Wed and look it over for any other issues.

Does not sound like a convincing answer to me but if your satisfied then so be it.

I think their explanation is satisfactory.
