Non XM equipped radios

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know if you have the "non" My link radio in the 2014 model Silverado if it can be programmed to have XM? I have a 2014 WT, it has the 7" display and I was just curious since everything is programmed through this unit (a/c controls, radio display, etc.) if there is a way to have a software update to include being XM supported? I bought a XM receiver to use the fm modulator to carry XM but the secondary device as well as the reception is poor.

Thanks,

Randall

I know those that have the same radio but have XM. Are you saying that it's a separate head unit with XM built in?

There is no such thing as a "head unit" anymore. The visible touchscreen is called HMI, short for Human Machine Interface. The HMI looks like a tablet when removed. Behind the HMI there are separate modules for OnStar, satellite radio, regular radio, and CD player; there may be more.

Adding a feature, such as satellite radio, may not be as easy as adding a module and connecting a few cables anymore. Module calibration(s) will need to be uploaded or the "system" won't recognize it, rendering it useless.

I don't have the touchscreen radio (MyLink), it's the 7" radio that is I believe 1LT and below as the standard.

If you've got an 8" Screen chances are I could whip up a custom calibration to make that happen...
