new muffler advice

Right now my setup is a 12" dynomax bullet y piped out to two tips. I cant stand the v4 drone and helicopter sound anymore. I do plan on adding headers later on so im gonna prepare for this and get a larger muffler. Do yall think the 22" magnaflow will keep the drone down?

yea I thought of that but honest I just want it quieter all around.. I just know when I put headers on its gonna be wayyyy louder with just the dynomax bullet haha

I've got the 18" Magnaflow and got rid of the 3rd cat and resonator and flap. It's loud. I have no idea what amount difference putting the resonator back on would make... yeah, the AFM drone is bad.

Ive got a kooks headers and a 22" magnaflow without the resonator, to me its perfect. Cruising on the highway is like stock, and a nice grumble when you get on it. As for drone im not sure as i have tuned out AFM.

yup im thinking the 22" is gonna be the way to go. I looked them up on ebay and they have them for $130. But a company named jones makes a clone that I can for $50.. Both are stainless steel. and the inside looks exactly the same... whats gives haha

just cut off stock muffler cost 50.00 sounds great

Jones makes mufflers for other companies and build a good product.

I am getting a Jones Turbine (formerly aero turbine) installed this week. I had one of their xl versions on my old truck and liked it a lot.

Update: I had the 22" Jones magnaflow clone put on. Muffler is very well constructed. Very mild tone when you get on it but no drone on the interstate which is was I was going for. I think when I put headers on it is gonna sound perfect. Definitely better than spending $130 on a magnaflow when the jones muffler is constructed just as well for only $50.

I'm assuming you used all the stock piping and kept the resonator as well?

Nope, its a single in/ dual out. No resonator after the muffler.

Just take it to an exhaust shop and they custom bend pipes? If so, approximately how much did it cost?

Yea I think all together is was like $200. $ 50 for the muffler and $150 for 4" tips and to run all the pipes.
