1500 with 6.2 or 2500 with stock engine

2014 LTZ 4X4 double cab with a 6.2, 3.42 rear axle, Firestone airbags, and Bilstein 5100s at max lift. I ended up with a truck that gets between 19.5 and 20 mpg running up and down I-5 empty and 16.5 towing the race car on an aluminum trailer (total 4,000 lb). The truck sets pretty well level and high enough to look like a real truck. When I tow either south or east over the mountains it maintains 65 mph in cruise without any effort at all even over the mountain passes. I came from a one ton diesel and this is the best move I've ever made. Wooo Hooo!

I have a 2009 RC 2500hd 4x4 6.0L with 4.10 gears, it pulls great, gas milage is around 14 empty and 11 with a good pull. Also I have a 2014 CC All Terrain with 6.2L with 3.42 gears it pulls really good but can"t handle the weight like the 3/4 ton can. I didn't want to put airbags on my half-ton since I have them on my HD and use them all the time. When I pull something I use the HD, when I want to drive somewhere I use the All-terrain.

Owning both, under the same conditions that you get 14mpg with the 6.0 what does your 6.2 get?

seriously doubt a 2500 with 6.0 will get 14mpg

It does get 14 mpg, its not that hard to get that either, efi live tune helped a bunch. My 6.2L gets between 16 and 18 mpg, 16 with winter fuel and 18 with summer blend, it is also efi live tuned.

I had an 02 2500hd 6.0 that would get 13-14 hwy with the old 4spd if I kept it under 65. Reg cab long box 4x4, 4.10.

 

I got rid of it because of the piston slap,?I guess they must have solved that issue a long time ago.

I have a 04 Denali 1500 with the 6.0, blackbear tune and I baby it it barely gets 14mpg almost all hwy commuting to work. Throw in some city you are 12-13mpg easy. One thing I have noticed is if I fill up then go right to the hwy it will stay at 15mpg a lot longer so the computer is probably lying. 300-330 miles per tank and probably 22-26 gallons used is right around 12-14mpg. GM/EPA were lying their arse off when the gave the old 6.0 14city 17hwy even on the 1500s, maybe flat ground with a rear wind going 47mph

 

I sure hope the new 6.2 gets better mileage, that is why I ordered a new denali. No way an old 6.0 2500 gets 14mpg, the newer ones maybe
