2015 with 6.2l weight

I live in NY and to get passenger plates the vehicle has to be less then 5,500 lbs. i want to get the silverado with 6.2l and 8 speed but im having trouble finding an exactly curb weight online. can someone with this setup tell me what it say on your title? and what cab/ bed config you have.

My crew cab short bed with a 5.3 weighs right around 6k pounds. The 6.2 and 8 speed is gonna be in the same ball park

thanks. after searching for a while on there website i found the data

crew cab with short bed (6.2l) 5434 lbs

crew cab with long bed (6.2l) 5514 lbs (over 5,500lbs requires commercial plates in NY)

crew cab with long bed (5.3l) 5456 lbs

so i have to decide weather i want more bed space or more power.

damn ill have to order the truck with the 6.2, i hope they can give me an exact weight before hand or i might get screwed. your truck is only 59 lbs over. that can be the difference in wheels or something so minor

So how does NY determine the weight? Is it off of the paperwork or do they weigh the truck? I would fight the commercial status tooth and nail, I bet that law has been on the books for 30+ years when trucks only weighed 4k lbs without all of the modern safety requirements.

they go by the weight listed on the title.

Man I know you would be banging your head in a wall, I would fight that tooth and nail. That is nothing more than a tax driver for no other reason. More so if you don't own a business. Do they treat SUV's the same way?

from what i understand SUV's don't have to worry about weight. and there's also something about having a camper shell that allows you to get passenger plates on a over weight pickup. but i'm not sure, ill have to find out from the DMV or something.

In a recent truck comparison in car and driver mag they recently weighed a 15' HC with the 6.2 and obviously 8 sp.. It was the test between the ram and new f150. The chevy was a 4x4 but with short box and it weighed 5658

So what do people do about the Ram 1500's then? A 4x4 crew cab is pushing 5800 - 5900 lbs.

So whats big deal? I just ran the numbers on the N.Y. website and a truck with pass plates and 5400 lbs. costs the same as a truck with 6400 lbs and comm. plates $210.00

Maybe the cost isn't the issue. I know in my state (VA) there are certain roads that commercial vehicles (truck tags) are not allowed to access due to weight and class restrictions. One I know all too well is I-66 inside the capital beltway. Don't ask, lol
