In the market for a regular cab

How's it going? New to the forum and might be a possibly first time GM owner soon.

 

Let me start by saying that I've always had Fords and still like them and really have no biased towards any brand.

 

Anyways, I really like the GMCs this time around and have been looking for a regular cab RWD 5.3 in the blue color the come in at.

 

My plan was to purchase a left over 2014 model but I've searched most of the big dealers in the state (TX) to no available.All they have are crew cabs and such.

 

They have a few 2015s but as you know, they dont offer much rebates on those. I found one in the exact combination that I want Z71 without being 4x4. The sticker price is close to 39.5 k minus a 2k which brings it back to the original price after taxes.

 

My question is, how much are you guys paying for the regular cabs? There are some 5.3s reg cabs for 31k but they are pretty basic feature wise.

 

Is the z71 non off road package the only way to get a fully loaded reg cab?

I have a 2014 regular cab short bed 4x4 that I ordered in August of 2014 and took delivery of in Sept. It had a sticker price of 38,000 and that was before the price increase . I have the LT2 Z71 package . Options include ( 5.3 engine .. Convenient package .. Rear park assist .. Bed lighting ...rear wheel house liners and LT tires .

 

There are a lot of options you can't get on the regular cabs such .. Leather seats .. Sliding rear window .. Climate control and the 6.2 engine to name a few . They do now allow you to get the 8" radio my link screen that was not available on the 2014s.

I bought my 2014 RC last June after a lady (in an F150! no less) smashed and totaled my 97 Silverado RC. I shopped 3 local dealers, and bought the 2014 from one who located it in a nearby state. I got a decent deal, including the rebates available on RC's at the time. Like 355HP Z71 said, some options weren't available, but I got an LT, and with the 5.3 engine it's nice enough for me. Be sure to drive whatever you thibk you want. Some of these trucks seem to have more issues with shifting and ride qualities than others.

I purchased my 2014 GMC Sierra SLE Reg Cab Long Bed 4WD back in August of last year.

 

The incentives at the time plus dealer discount amounted to a little over 16 percent off sticker price.

I bought mine last August, went in looking at z71's but ended up deciding that an LT would do. There wasn't as good of deals on the regular cabs. After discounts came off and taxes went on, I ended up paying pretty much what the sticker was. But then I bought rims and tires from them which I probably shouldn't have.

Bought mine 2 months ago for 25k. I plasti dip the bow tie and now waiting for my 3" lift kit for the front. Next is my rims and tires and stereo system. Pic on my profile

i love regular cabs but the money just doesn't make sense. you can usually get a nice crew for the same as a loaded single cab because the rebates are so much higher.

I got my 2014 WT2 that was listed for $33,510 (9/2013) before the price increase for $28,000 (plus tax/ not deducting trade in) after incentives etc. It has a lot of nice things, 5.3, 4X4, towing package, plowing package, rear defroster window, bigger tires, floor mats and E85 plus what comes with the WT2 models - chrome bumpers and wheels etc.. The last two I had if you keep them in great (low mileage) condition had a very good trade in value from what I paid. Trading in my 2008 WT2 regular cab it was just under $8,800 out the door which I could pay cash for it (more savings) and start saving for my next vehicle. Price increase after 10/2013 was an additional $2,000 for this same model. I only lost (2008) about a little over $4,000 in accessories (trade in). I purchased the 2008 Chevy truck when GM almost went bottom up and it was the best time to purchase a truck back then. Same truck. From 2002 to 2008 there was no price increase on sticker price. I got more options in the 2008. From 2008 to 2014 there was an $8,000 increase to $10,000 after 10/2013 on sticker price. I got a few more options in the 2014.

the higher option wt models are better values but a loaded scsb Z71 5.3 4x4 has an msrp of around 40. just too much for a single cab.

I was going to go with a double cab LT trim, but couldn't easily fit it into the garage, and I wasn't going to go back to the days of parking outside at home. Yes I'm spoiled. That, plus the fact that more times than not I'm the only one in the truck, but when necessary my wife and daughter can fit in the cab, sold me on a RC. But moneywise, the double cab with rebates was essentially same price as the regular cab I bought.

i'm the same way. have to park in the garage. i have 6 inches to spare with the crew/short. would love to daily a loaded single cab but the funds just won't allow. need the crew for the family.

As Seth pointed, the best value is a WT, loaded with the options you want. In Dec. 2013 I purchased a 2014 Sierra Reg Cab, MSRP of 29,260.00, with a purchase price of 23,317.11 (before TTL). and that included 5.3, PW, Tilt, PDL, carpet, etc. This allowed me to add additional options at my leisure, such as factory 20" wheels/tires (craigslist find), console, interior trim from an SLT, etc.

 

I spent hours on the internet trying to find the color, and equipment via GM's website, and FINALLY out of desperation I called GM, told the lady, that I was willing to travel 1,200 miles, and gave her the color and equipment………3 minutes later she gave me two dealers that had a vehicle that matched my "wants".
