Help rebuilding an old kohler engine

My father has an old concrete saw that uses a Kohler m10 engine. It has gotten to the point of check gas/add oil, is a pita to start, the carb is falling apart, and the teeth on the recoil are worn so they don't catch. I'm trying to figure out what parts I need and am having a bit of trouble tracking them down. Anyone have any good forums for small engine repair? The engine model is a M10T which tells me it's their 10 horse Magnum engine, but the block has casting number k301 which is the 12hp block. Google tells me that kohler used a k241 for 10hp and k301 for 12hp blocks, but some 10hp motors had the bigger k301 block but with a smaller bore because there was a shortage of k241 blocks. I'm trying to figure out which bearings/rings and so on I need

Maybe a forum out there on snowmobiles, motorcycles etc might have a section for these other small engines? Just a thought.

This kinda reminds me of my first snowmobile because it had a 295cc Kohler one lunger in it. That was a pretty hardcore engine which took a lot of abuse!
