Factory Remote Start Extender?

Recommended Posts

Talked to my accessory guy today. The remote extender is made by Viper. It adds one mile of range. Consists of an antenna that mounts to the windshield, and that communicates to a module via RF. The module just plugs into the OEM wiring harness directly with no splicing. The kit comes with two fobs. One is digital and the other is a back up, with no screen. My installer will swap out the back up with a digital for a small price adder. I'll be having this installed in a couple weeks when the canopy and wheels/tires show up at his shop. http://www.viper.com/car/remotestart/product/4706v/viper-lcd-2-way-remote-start-system

Any update on this? Im interested as well

Not sure on the cost of the range extender but I always get a complete better remote start installed. I get Compustar as it is supposed to be the best. It can be set to run 45 minutes ( it gets down to -40 here and even 20 minutes won't get the engine warmed up )

And it is long range two way so I can see it started.

The factory one won't start my truck from my office and the short run time sucks.

I think I pay about $600.00 installed.

I have not had one installed yet. I'm actually looking at the Compustar now that Dirtbiker mentioned above. Reason being, is I've had some problems with the accessory guy, and don't believe a word he says anymore. Another fella told me to go with the Compustar. I'll see what I can find out about it next week.
