What's the recommended pressure for a stock tires on a 2002 L71 ext cab?

 

I've seen references to people running from 40 up to 80psi.  I'm from the old days where it was strictly 30 to 35psi in about anything but a bicycle.  Do I need to flash forward?

I run what is on the side of the tire. I have had great luck with my tires running that pressure. No problems at all. Now the ride is a little hard but it doesn't bother me. I know a lot of people run what is inside the drivers door and what that tells you to run. That gives you a better ride and is what the vehicle was designed for, at least that is my understanding of it.  Also running the max pressure in the back from what is on the tire I don't have to worry about it when I put a load in the back.  Nothing worse than picking up a load of wood, gravel, or what ever and finding out that your tires are low.

Check what is on the placard on the driver's side door.  On mine, I have the stock Wilderness AT.  The recommended pressure is 35.  The stock tires are P rated tires (less number of plys).  Some of the guys on here are running LT tire (D and E load range).  They have a higher number of plys and have to run higher pressures.  Hope that helped.

I ran about 36 on my stock Wilderness AT's.  I'm about 38 on the new Revo's, looking at going to 40 perhaps.

If you have the stock tires, then run what is inside the drivers door on the placard.  If you have upgraded to a heavier tire then you can run higher pressures.  I think the factory 1500 aluminum rim is rated to about 60 psi max.

My stock Firestones' MAX pressure on the tire is the same as the suggested on the placard on the door, 50psi. They are on the painted steel wheels in my basement, I run those 245/75/16s in the winter and I have a set of factory aluminum wheels with 265/75/16s that I run in the summer. The summer tires are 8 ply's and suggest 60psi. If your tires are not stock you just kind of have to mess with the pressures to see what you like. I did run 60psi but thought the center was wearing a little more so after some adjustments I am currently at 54psi. Just takes some experimenting!
