was the garage door injured?

You wouldnt believe all the people who have mishaps with their vehicle/garage door

I talk to about 1-2 people a day at work about this (when i work)

Never hurt the door...  last time it didn't open all the way I blew 2 rollers off and broke a hinge.

If it doesn't open all the way, it usually stops about 10" short and I see it in the mirror.  But I had rain on my mirrors and didn't notice that it stopped just a few inches short.  My opening is 7' and the truck is about 6'10" and I figure the opening was about 6'9".

I actually stopped when I heard the door slide across the opening and hit the back of the cab.  I got out and walked around the truck thinking I ran over one of the kids toys.  I never looked up, got back in and backed up another foot when I realized that the sound I heard was paint coming off the truck....  :nono:

Be thankful it wasnt one of your kids.  If you look at it that way its not so bad then (softens the blow)

I dont know if you heard this (i have posted before) but my lil bro told my dad one time the door was open.  (DONT KNOW WHY HE DIDNT NOTICE IT WASNT).  Well he put it in reverse and BAM backed into the door which was down.  Cracked the wood door.  Didnt hurt his bumper at all.  All i heard was ^$%^%$^&$%$&%$^%$*&%^(*^&^(**(@%%@$ for a few minutes  :nono:

Same deal happened to my Grandma's 91 Civic several years ago.  I hit my remote when coming to her house to do some yardwork, well she was backing out and hit hers as well to open the door.  Left a nice nickel size dent right above the rear window molding...nowhere near as bad as yours.  It happens:(

That's one heck of a strong opener!!!

My Genie screwdrive would've stopped because of the resistance and started going back up.

My friend did something similar to his fiance's exploder after we unloaded his new Sony 36" Wega TV from the back of it.  He didn't realize he hadn't pulled in far enough, hit the opener, it went down, ans scccrrrraaaatttcchchhh.    The door came down on the front of the hood.

I told him "It's ok....it's only a ford and an exploder at that!"  He didn't seem too soothed by my goodwill.  :D

This opener reverses itself too, but for some reason it didn't open all the way and stopped short just a few inches from full open.

I have to back the truck in the garage, so that I can swing the front over to make room for my other vehicle to get in and out easily.

The back of the truck must have just slid under the door, and then it drug along the top all the way as i backed in...

OUCH!   :D   I would've felt like

I'd be interested to see how hard/easy the process goes if you plan on claiming a homeowner's insurance payout.

Never had a need to make a claim on mine yet.

My Genie screwdrive

is it the accelerator???   :D Your truck would be cut in half if it was one of those

Yes, it's an accelerator.  But you can control it somewhat by adjusting the magnetic stops and adjusting the force.  :flag:

so your one that opens your garage at the end of the driveway and floors it into the garage  :flag:

We sell garage door openers at work and for some reason they arent popular.

I floor it into the garage regardless of whether theres a door there or not.  I use it as a brake check.

I love mine.  ONe of my friend's liked mine so much he went and got one too.

It's sooooo quiet and fast compared to my old chain driven Chamberlain.

I have the screwdrive "accelerator" too.....It only goes up fast....I wonder if there is a way to make it drop that fast too???

Love it, much quieter than the chain drive too....I did see/hear a belt driven one the other day that made mine sound like a train though.....Now I want mine to break, so I can buy one of those. :flag:

the belt drives are nice.  Much quieter.  We sell alot of them.  On sale they are $199-189 which isnt bad considering the screw drives are about $159.  Major plus is if the belt goes bad (with the chamberlain we sell) they will replace it for the life of the opener

If i was getting an opener it would be a belt drive.
