I wanted to let you guys know that I have some GREAT DEALS on GMPP(GM Protection Plans) warranties.  They are genuine GM warranties not aftermarket. No matter where you are located I can sell you one, so if you have any questions regarding pricing or coverage please contact me.

Thanks Jason...my wife was bringing that subject up when she saw I have already put on 21,500 in a little over a year.  36,000 will get here before I know it.  I never understood the thinking though!  By telling me to buy one it seems GM is saying to bet on it breaking down... if I dont buy one then I am betting on it staying in good shape!! Any studys/reviews on how often people have to use the extended warrantys?

Well I don't really know of any studies that I can think of, but I can tell you this.....I believe that a warranty os just like an insurance policy.  You hope you never need it, but when you do, you are glad to have it.  I myself have nver owned a vehicle with out having a warranty.  With cars being man made and so many variables involving driving conditions, you never know what could happen.  In fact, the supposed best made cars around still have warranties.  we all know that cars of all makes break down, so I guess it's just a gamble, but so is any insurance.

That true and again, I am not trying to be a wise@$$ about it!  I have never been a believer in extended warrantys for smaller items (except my laptop because of the LCD screen and things like pens and pencils!) but truck problems can be slightly more traumatic to the wallet!  Could you email or PM me with more info?

I'm curious about the pricing myself.  Could you e-mail me some more details too.  I just turned 30,000 on my '99, if that makes any difference in the details.

Are their different policies?  I just got a 100K 5 yr warranty from gm on my engine.  So i would kinda like one for the trans/drivetrain/4wd system/abs.  Also can you use gm points towards them?

Thanks

Tom,

Do you have a 4wd or 2wd? Also is it still under the 36mo?

I would be glad to e-mail you some prices...

Ryan,

You are correct, you there are levels of coverage. and term and mileage.  Your term sare 36mo,48mo,60mo,72mo,84mo and your mileage is 50k,60k,75k,100k

Take a look at this link to get some good info on the types of coverage.

Thanks for the link

Any idea how much a value guard for 100K would cost?  My truck is right around 24K as of now

Thanks

Anyone have any experience with "Warranty Gold"

I was thinking about a warranty with them also.

They said they cover many things that GM does not, including "normal wear and tear".

It's a 4WD (Z71) with just over 30,000 and under 36 months.  It was built in May '99, used as a dealer demo, and had 5,000 miles on it when I bought it in January 2000.  Never sold or used by anyone but the dealer.  So they told me. :(  I did do a title check (or whatever that's called) and it didn't show any other owners.

Another question you may be able to answer for me, I keep forgetting to ask my dealer. :D  Does my 3 year/36,000 mile warranty start form the time I bought my truck, regardless of how many miles it had on it and how old it was?  I always assumed it did, and I think my salesman told me it did.  So that would mean my truck is warranted until 40,000 miles total (since it had 5,000 when I bought it) and until January 2003 (bought in Jan 2000).  Is that correct?

Tom,

I have to disagree guys....if I sell a demo and it has 5k mi on it than the factory warranty is up at 36k total miles!  Gm does not care whether or no tit had miles on it at delivery(with the exception of regular mileage like 15 mi or so.)  So basically you have from the day you bought it(as long as it has never been titled) till 3 years and a total of 36k mi.

Tom, Jason may or may not be right (at least thats how I read his post).  In some cases they do sell it as a demo and that is true.  Sometimes not.  Your original paperwork should tell you.  Have you looked at the paperwork?  Guy who works for me bought a SportTrac as a demo w/5000 miles and like Jason said, his is up at 36000 and 36 months.
