Cat-Back Exhaust affect Low-End torque

I'm getting mixed opinions about this. And of the few dyno sheets I can find none show torque numbers below about 3000rpm. Truck the exhaust is going on is a 2011 6.0 2500hd.

Cat Back exhaust will give very little torque/HP gain . It may let the engine breath a little better than the huge metal OE Muffler. The shop will make a little money with a load of scrap

Anytime you open up the exhaust on a stock motor you will loose low end torque and HP. All the charts you will see will be at WOT (wide open throttle) to see very little gains if any but who runs there motor at near red line, big waste of money unless you like the sound and don't care about HP/TQ.

I understand the gains are minimal. I mainly wanted an exhaust for the sound. But I really don't want to lose power though. I figured there was a reason why they didn't post the full dyno sheet haha.

You will not have have any loss. I have put exhaust on my truck and there was no loss. Also I can say I did not notice any more power also, but it sounds great!

The post about loss of power with an exhaust is BS.

The factory muffler is very restrictive, a good quality cat-back will be an improvement over stock.

the stock system flows pretty good EXCEPT for the muffler..swap it out for a good straight thru muffler and be done with it..

I only have a few options buying the whole cat back system. Stock my truck uses a 3 1/2'' pipe. So its between an MBRP 3 1/2'' Right side exit, Flowmaster American Thunder 3 1/2 to dual 3'' side or rear exit. And a Magnaflow 3 1/2 right side exit. The magnaflow says its for 2015 and up but I'm confident it would fit mine being the chassis hasn't changed much since 2011. All the other exhausts fit 2011 and newer. So I would be taking a risk with Magnaflow. I think I've ruled out Gibson and Corsa. So it's between MBRP, Flowmaster, and Magnaflow. And that is pretty much where I'm stuck lol.

I agree that the only part that GM did not get right in the exhaust is the muffler. I put a Magnaflow muffler on my 2500. Left everything else alone. Granted, mine is 2015 2500, but there really is not any difference in anything on any L96 6.0L equipped HD pickups since 2011. Same 3.5" piping.
