Navigation Antenna Cable

Hi guys, new to the forum and loving it so far. I recently bought a 2015 CC short bed Z71 in slate gray. Loving the truck so far and everyone on here has given me some great ideas of mods I want to do as the budget allows. So on to my question. I was browsing the chevy accessory website last night and came across a "Navigation Antenna Cable". That says it converts the factory 8" touch screen radio into a factory navigation unit. Could it be this easy? Nav is the one option I wanted but ended up sacrificing. I know the price of almost 1k is expensive but maybe pricing comes down some. Anyone have any experience with this cable?

So I just upgraded my 2015 Silverado with Navigation. It takes a new HMI (which is located behind the lower glove box) and an antenna cable. I bought mine from a guy on this forum. his user name is Kodiakz. I'll try to post the link to that thread. If yo0u buy from the dealership, it'll run u about 1k, but Kodiakz will hook you up. well worth it.

So....sounds like GM is making this just as confusing as adding a NAV icon to the system that just loads the On-Star NAV service...LOL

Antenna cable? I can assure you there is WAY more stuff involved to do this the PROPER way. This would explain way we have already gotten a handful of calls from customers that have tried to get this new GM upgrade done and have had issues getting it to work correctly. There is actually more parts and custom programming involved to do this upgrade correctly...the way it would have come in the truck had it built by the factory with it already installed. Our upgrade ships as a complete kit and functions EXACTLY the way it would have if the factory installed it.....and we have them at a $300.00 discount at the moment. The dealer would have to install the antenna from GM. I'm pretty sure they reprogram the HMI after installing the antenna to allow it to work properly.

 

I'm really curious if this accessory would work in a 2014 - it's only listed under the 2015 accessories.

Different modules...won't work on the 15's and I doubt they will offer them for that year. They pretty much liquidated most of those modules....we bought most of them
