Opt7 led lights

Well i guess today my Opt7's are running as DRLs ... when the halogens were in i turned off DRLs anyway, so will keep an eye for now but will turn off for good in a few days

So if i were to buy 9005 high beams from Opt7, are they actually gonna function as high beams?

I guess what im askin is would they be brighter, shine further, show more, etc than the low beams?

Or do you guys recommend something different

Your guess is as good as ours. The actual light output is greater but it will only shine to the sides and not in the same orientation as the reflector was designed to use. I found with the LED's my low beams seemed brighter and were more in the foreground (what you don't want), but long distance illumination wasn't nearly as strong. The bright white color can also throw off one's perception with respect to brightness.

I pulled the bulbs last night and you can see only one diode lights up. You can also see that the second pic the fan has failed and is not running.

I just got my replacement today

I'm wondering if heat killed the fan or vice versa. They do warn against using factory dust caps in the instructions, but there is a considerable volume of air in the headlight housing. For now I'm back to H9's and am contemplating giving the LMZ's a try and/or going full retro and HID.

I debated puttin those caps on but having those wires hanging seemed dangerous and tacky IMO .. i didnt like the look of the cap being off and wires exposed like that. Also seems like its asking for trouble should water happen to get in there as well as fogging issues

On the passenger side you that rubber like piece between the dust cap and the filter, wonder if one of those can be had for the driver side. I think maybe just that covering the area with dust cap off may be fine, and allow air flow? I thought about doing that actually on the pass side but just put the cap on anyway

I put the new bulb in and its doing the same. Obviously its the red box that went bad. It's what distributes power to each diode and fan and its only getting to one of those things. Put in another request... Hopefully these work and I have no more problems

I'll swap boxes on mine tonight before I return and see if that fixes it.

ok yeah thats what i figured.

I need to adjust the cut off ive jus been lazy n dnt wanna do it. I drove at night on saturday and they were lighting up the airport signs that hang above the road so i know they had to be in drivers eyes. No one flashed me though, and my fiance who i was following never said anything about them blinding her from behind either so maybe not. But they shouldnt be lighting up the above signs like that when im driving on flat ground

Post pics... Which ones did you get? Plasma or cree? If I remember right, the crees were 5000K and wouldnt match the headlights

Just got the opt 7 cree led 5000k fog lights installed last night. will post pictures soon

Well I shipped them back and forgot to test and see if the box would fix the bulb. However, I got the H9's back in last night and confirmed what I thought. The OPT7's create a lot of foreground illumination butsignificantly less in long distance. This is bad because it it hurts your vision where it matters-what's off in the distance versus 20' in front of your bumper.

I just scored some used LTZ OEM projector lamps on ebay and I'm going to retro FXR 3.0 projectors.
