Mine are really bright I like them a lot.. I also noticed they would not work with the capacitors or resistors idk whatever they come with. I jut have the polarity wire hooked in and they work flawlessly for drl everything. I have a 15 with reflector housing

I ordered them after our discussion and was very happy for 3 weeks. I had one completely fail on me. The bulb and the driver box were both non functioning. I talked with their customer support (very friendly from my experience) and they wanted to just replace the one bulb and driver set.

Considering the failure after less than a month with a grand total of around 4 hrs total runtime, I don't trust them.

I just got a refund instead. I feel like LED headlamp bulbs need some more maturation time. Until they improve to a point of gaining my full trust, I have switched back to my trusty HIDs and am very satisfied with those. I used the same setup in my older Silverado and have not ever had a single component fail on me despite 4 yrs of heavy use. If anyone is ever curious, I'm more than happy to detail my install and components. Although I know it has nothing to do with this thread, I have thoroughly educated myself on audio upgrades in this newer generation of Silverado as well.

So Im driving home Sunday night on the highway and my driver side goes out. Had to ride with high beams the remaining half hour. Montana highways dont have street lights so yeah.

 

I switched back to stock, in the process once removed but still connected i switch on my headlights and the bulbs flickers then cuts off so im guessing the driver box is dead. I emailed Opt 7 through Amazon yesterday afternoon, no response yet.

 

Definitely should last longer than a month, especially when Id say they only run for about 30 min a day as DRLs (thats only if i forgot to switch them off during the day driving to & from work). I think ive only had about 4 hours or so of might driving, if that

I have read enough reviews on these now. After considered everyone's experiences I will just stay stock in the headlights until something more reliable comes out. I can't risk these going out down the highway. Too dangerous

Received a response from Opt ..

 

 

"Sorry to hear about the one bulb not performing as expected. In cases like

this I can simply replace the component that is not working correctly with

a brand new part.

 

All we need to do is identify what part needs to be replaced using a simple

test called the "SWAP TEST"

 

Basically, remove both LED bulbs from their respective drivers. Then swap

them and connect them to the opposite driver and vice versa. Note whether

the issue you experienced before has moved or remains on the same side.

 

If the issue has moved then the LED BULB needs to be replaced

If the issue stays on the same side the LED DRIVER needs to be replaced"

What an interesting forum. I've been looking at the OPT7s or using LEDs on my 2015 Sierra. But from the sounds of it there has been a lot of diode failures. Honestly, it's probably from the design. As LED technology continues to get better, there have been new LED designs without using a fan (like the Putco LEDs and copper cloth heat sinks).

 

Agreeing with everyone else that GM seemed to screw us on some poor lighting, maybe the lower lumen (2,500) Putco would last long and provide better than stock....but not as good as the OPT7s?

Hmmmm, I'm curious what GM put out in the 2016's since I think they were going to switch to LED's this year?

Gents,

That mark is the headlight focus point.... dealers use that circle to ensure the headlight is aligned correctly.....

If thats where youre saying its melting your headlight then thats not melting. All headlights come with those cirlces. And i dont think something is going to melt you a perfect circle.

Has anyone installed BOTH the low beam and high beam using opt7 LEDS?

 

If so, any problems on high beams? Fitment and quality?

 

I have installed these on my parents Tahoe and have had NO problem whatsoever...

Yeah, low beams only for me too. I'm running HIDs on the lows and standard halogens on the highs.

The downside for the GMC's is that we only have one set of lights versus the Chevy's (excluding the 2016 Chevy). So if one goes out we don't have our high-beams to take over. Kind of blows since it just opens up a window to get pulled over by law enforcement to write a fix-it ticket.

heres a picture i took. Its not that great becouse of my workbench but you can see the cut off. As far as the led alignment, theres only one way to put them in im pretty sure.

same here I put mine in same as stock and diodes end up facing diagonal towards 10-11 and 4-5
