My 2014 and 2015 Silverado story

I purchased a new 2014 double cab back in May of 2014. It was deep ruby and I was really happy with the truck. I added some things like a spray in liner, tint, Nfab steps, and a tonneau cover and I was ready to enjoy the truck for some years to come.

I drove the truck through the winter and in the spring looked forward to giving it a good wash and wax. While doing this I found that I had become member of the peeling paint club. At the bottom of all the doors I could literally scrub the paint off right off with a bug sponge.

I was less than pleased. I traded a basically flawless 2011 Silverado on this truck and could not believe this was happening. I spent some time here and on other forums reading all I could about the issue and others experiences. I was having a hard time getting my mind around having a less than one year old truck repainted.

I made up my mind I wanted out of this truck. I entertained going to look at Fords or Dodges but I really didn't like those trucks. Also I knew I would get a low trade from them with a Silverado that was missing paint.

I went back to my Chevy dealer. The 2014 was the second truck I got from them. I explained the issue and said I wasn't interested in a repaint. I wanted to swap the truck on a 2015 with the same options that I already had. I wasn't looking for an upgrade, I just wanted to maintain what I had. Things worked out really well and I was able make a good deal on another truck.

So now I am the owner of 2015 silver double cab. I will post up some pictures of some of the mods I did already. Everything that I have read says the paint issue was corrected at Ft Wayne after May of 2014. I certainly hope that is true because I don't want to deal with it again. I hope to keep the 2015 for a long time to come.

As long as you are happy that is all that matters, THOUGH this is a known issue and GM has a TSB out for it and a repair process. It doesn't involve a full repaint, only on the rock guard area (rocker panel).
