Hey all,

Just wanted to introduce and pose a question.

Life long Chevy owner, outdoorsman, commercial plumbing tradesman.

Now the question:

I'm upgrading my muffler on my 2006 Silverado LS WT 2500 HD and have 3" dual in/out exhaust that Y's into 3.5" behind muffler. I've narrowed down to dynomax ultraflo X muffler or dual cherry bomb glass packs. I chose these two for ease of replacement and low cost. I don't want to change current exhaust piping.

Any thoughts are welcome

Change it til your hears content. I do believe the head pipes and mid pipes are 2.75 though. They are the same as the setup i have. A popular setup i have seen is a magnaflow 18-22" DI/SO or DI/DO and they sound good. I love the Corsa and MBRP cat-back systems on them personally

I like the magnaflow also, but in order to make a clean swap, I need at least a 26" overall muffler

It may affect the floe velocity due to the larger diameter of the pipping.

That is the stock piping, but you're saying that it could be too much flow?

Add 4 inches of pipe. Mahnaglow may make a 24 and 26". I havent dove that deep in the catalog

The longer the muffler the quieter it will be. Adding a pipe segment is no big deal since the muddler las to get welded in. I dont care for glass packs. I like a clean rumble.
