rebuild engine

Just wondering what you all would do. So I have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD with over 300K on the clock. Since I bought to tow I was thinking about two options. Rebuild stock and supercharge it or rebuild with performance heads and cam. What are your thoughts???

What is the current condition of the engine? What engine is it? I have close to 300,000 on my engine.....and I'm not going to do anything to it. Keep driving it.

Supercharger and performance heads and cam won't help you with towing. More power sure, but the engine isn't designed for that power and to pull heavy weight with it.

And the transmission WILL pile up and the diff is the fuse for the transmission , it should go pop as well

Drive truck , put money in a box of beer

I would recommend the heads and cam, as well as building the trans up. You should also look at freshing up the rear, and if it's good just change out the fluid and drive it until it goes. Take a look at the cooling also, bigger trans cooler, oil cooler and possibly a bigger radiator. But after all that you would have put a lot of money into a truck that is not going to be worth a lot (except to you). Just something to think about.

I'm in the same boat with 370k miles on the clock. I bought it and just did the routine, wear and tear maintenance and I'll just keep driving it. One exception the transfer case was in bad shape so I replaced it.
