2500hd backfire

2006 wouldn't start used starting fluid turned over would only stay running with thestarting fluid then BOOM big backfire.have fuel pressure at railing 55psi any thoughts?

Have you checked for diagnostic codes?

Check fuses? Injectors are apparently not operating.

The ether is the worst thing for it, too much will cause it to backfire.

CHECK FOR CODES!! Starting fluid may work fine on older stuff but I wouldn't go hosing it a newer vehicle if it won't start.

take fuel pressure reading at key on, engine off. iirc 55 psi is the low end of the spec. You definitely have a fuel issue. Suspect the pump is bad
