MyLink Radio Alerts

I looked all through the settings in the MyLink radio and cannot find a way to shut alerts off. For example, when I get close to getting on the Turnpike, a message comes across the radio telling me "Caution, Tool Booth". It's very annoying. Any way of shutting this off?

did you also check the settings in the DIC? I don't remember what all is in there but there are some separate settings from the radio and I have the nav too and don't get that so it's gotta be in there somewhere.

I agree totally annoying. And wrong 95% of the time. I have had it tell me that off-ramps are closed, accident ahead, the road or lane narrows, flash flood warning without any of it being real. Today it told me that there was a fire on the side of the road. Too bad that it was 45 minutes after I got stopped at the roadblock. After I we were finally allowed to pass, when I got about 2 miles passed the fire it let me know that there was a fire. Better late than never????? LOL

Whoa, glad my truck doesn't have a SatNav.

Its traffic and weather through XM radio. It can be turned off in the mylink settings. I turned mine off in my sierra can't remember were it is been awhile but it stopped all the weather warnings I was getting. I think it was in the radio settings.

Mine started doing this after the Navigation Map update. I called the MyLink support folks and they said the alerts are part of Voice Prompts in the Navigation Voice Preferences that you can change in the Navigation Menu. These alerts will be audible as long as Voice Prompts are turned on in the Navigation Voice Preferences (the voice that prompts the directions when using Navigation). Their suggestion is to only turn on Voice Prompts when using Navigation for a guided trip route. Can also turn them off through the main Map View.

It is not part of the traffic and weather through XM...you can turn off the weather warnings in Navigation as well...these alerts are related to the maps, not weather or traffic from what I was told...I turned off the Voice Prompts and no more alerts...but they will come back on with Voice Prompts

So the question remains...if I am using the navigation system and DO NOT want these alerts, there is no way to turn them off. GM MyLink support did not even know they were included in the new map upgrade and actually called them "features" (2015's come with this newer version - my truck is an early build 2014). I told him that a sudden, unexpected LOUD voice that says, "DIVIDED HIGHWAY AHEAD!!" is not a helpful feature. And since the maps are actually purchased from another "third party" under contract, there is "nothing we can do, but we'll pass your comments along". Yeah, right...

So I have to turn voice prompts off which will affect the navigation when I use it. That is odd that they set this up that way. Oh, and the weather alerts....so annoying. They just keep coming and coming.

I looked at my settings today and the weather warnings can be turned on and off in the weather app then go to menu in the weather app. I know when my xm radio trail was up the weather warnings were no longer available. XM added it back to my package free for 1 year when I renewed and the warnings started again.

There are two types of alerts being discussed here: navigation alerts and weather alerts. They are separate. The OP referred to "caution, toll booth" and I referred to "divided highway ahead" which are Navigation alerts. These did not start until after I updated the Navigation Maps. As stated, these are turned off with the Voice Prompts.

The weather alerts including Amber alerts can be turned off separately in the weather menu.

I hope this helps.
