Rearview mirror wire cover removal help

Recommended Posts

I currently have my radar detector mounted to my rearview mirror. I want to run the detector wire (shown in the picture) underneath that rearview mirror wire cover. Has anyone removed this? I cant seem to figure out how and didn't want to force it. Thanks

That cover is actually two pieces if I remember correctly. Just push the bottom portion up and away from the mirror post and it pops right off with no damage. I wired my Escort 9500ix into the mirror wiring and it was a pain but works good. Those wires in there are tiny. There is plenty of room under the cover for your wire.

Unless it's different than my 2011 the headliner side is just held in by friction. Grab it up there and try to slide it down to the mirror base.

Which wires did you tap into? I'm assuming you are using the Blend mount? Which Blend mount did you get for a 2015?

I didnt use the blend mount... I used this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063N7OZ2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage as the mount and this http://www.amazon.com/Escort-Direct-Wire-SmartCord-Light/dp/B003PJ6QPQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=car&ie=UTF8&qid=1444136507&sr=1-4&keywords=escort+9500 to hardwire in, underneath the dash
