In reality the uncorrected numbers should be worse than actual sense your going fewer miles than it thinks

I might be wrong but i think you are. If you put a larger tire on and do not change the computer the speedometer will read less than actual speed. So if it reads 65 you are actually going 67, just an example. So you are actually traveling a further distance than the computer is recording.

Unfortunately, larger diameter tires also are heavier and usually, we are talking about wider and more aggressive treads which squim much more. All said and done, they have all the negative aspects wrapped up together. Throw in the variability of either city or highway driving and it gets to be very muddy. Separating which has more effect is often not practicable.

If I knew someone local with stock tires on their truck, I'd swap tires for 2 weeks and see what happens to the gas mileage. I wouldn't be surprised if it went up 10 or even 15%.

 

I had 285/65-18 KO2's on my 5.3 3.42 2014 Silverado, my best mpg was around the same

No possible way a new 6.2 4x4 ccsb gets 22 mpg with 2 sizes too big E rated 60lb tires. Math does not compute. The trucks are not even rated that high from the factory with stock tires.

My truck is so sensitive to the type of driving and the way it's driven that I can't just give a tank full delta from one tire to the other. I can generalize and say that there was about 3 mpg delta on average for how I drive, changing to my tires (33 x 12.50) listed in my signature below. I've seen similar statements from others with similar tire changes. As the tires get bigger, the mileage hit gets bigger. Guys running 35s or 37s get hit with larger losses than if they'd used a 33.

There's highway miles and city miles. The whole tank doesn't matter unless it's all city or all highway.

 

I either get on the highway and pull 20+ or I stay in town and get 16-17.

It's an overall average one tank of gas that's all I'm asking no best highway not worst in town an average of the whole tank I drive 70% highway 30 in town every day my AVERAGE IS 18.5 what is your average hand calculated

Not on a full tank. Maybe with the best of 25 or 50 thing. Not accurate for a full tank average. I have a best of 27 on my ccsb 5.3 4x4 342. Does not mean i get 27 mpg.

My first response to you was a full tank true average with truck and tire listed. I'm on board with you here. Best of 50 is not accurate. Full tank average is what matters.

for that time yes but not for the average of the tank. Average of the tank is what matters in the real world.

 

If you had a full tank, reset trip meter, drove 300 miles, filled up 14.3 gallons then you can divide 300 miles by 14.3. You would have 20.97 for overall average of the tank. There would be sections with in that 300 miles that you were getting 22, 15, 10, 25 miles per gallon but you can only truly represent the mileage with a full tank average. Also a flat road at 55 mph for a full tank with a tail wind is hardly a real world day to day number.
