True MPGs with 6.2 8 speed with A/T or M/T tires

Just looking for a general average that why I asked on here and not one person but if you wanna go off the computer I get 23 MPGs and if your not to concerned about your mpg why want you do a whole tank mpg average for me ?

I have never understood why people think you should just flat out accept horrible mileage to have a truck. I have seen that comment, or similar, made so many times. Why should he not care or not have his truck the way he wants? He is asking a question so that he can get the information to make his decision. What is wrong with that?

Because these people actually think there getting 20 MPGs with LT tires I'm going to ask one more time then I'm done one tank of gas reset trip A drive until the light comes on or close to it fill up and hand calculated the true MPGs

Is that for me? I don't have the 6.2L. But if you want my info, I was averaging 17-18 in my normal commute - 50/50 city/hwy over the life of my truck - 22,000 miles. I drive 44 miles round trip to my work in a lot of stop/go construction traffic. After I got my 3.4% larger AT tires, I've been averaging 16-17 mpg over the last 6,000 miles. That does not take into account the 3.4% mileage change due to the large diameter tires. So in reality, I lost about a 1/2 mpg going to a slightly heavier and taller tire. That's about a 5% drop, which is what I would expect from everybody - 5-10% drop based on your driving style. I have no lift or mods.

I wasn't saying that. But I do think that if you want good mileage, you shouldn't do things like add larger/heavier tires, add a lift, remove your lower valence, etc. It drives me nuts when people complain about their mileage and they have a 4 inch lift with 35" tires and all kinds of other mods that they don't "need". I think it's good that the OP is asking what to expect because he doesn't want the mileage hit. You have to pay to play, you can't have it both ways. Pick your mods carefully!

Again, "true", calculated mpg is pointless unless you know all of their info - the weight of their wheels, the size of their tires, do they have a lift, did they remove their lower valence, how much weight in the bed, do they have a lead foot or drive like a grandma, city, highway, fast, slow? All of those things, and others, significantly affect fuel economy. The best thing to do is just ask for the difference from before and after the tire install alone. A percent delta is more important than a hand calculated discrete number.

 

There's a guy in the intake cleaner thread that posts 24-26 mpg shots every week with his 6.2L with a full tank of gas. He claims he was getting under 20 mpg before the cleaning. I don't believe the intake cleaner made that much of a difference, but I believe people can get that type of mileage driving 55 on the highway all day long like he does. I pass those guys at 80 mph every day on my way to/from work. Your driving style will make a bigger difference than the tire change. You should expect a 5-10% drop based on your tire choice.

Agreed but don't think we should shut people down that want to ask the questions. They can get the info they need, if provided in a truthful manner, to make their own decision. That is what these forums are for.

 

If good mpg is your main concern a lift/level and tires is probably a bad idea but if you just want to know how bad it will be this should be the place to come to find out.

I guess people's reading and comprehending abilitys are not that great on here.

This is the question if you have a 6.2 and LT tires and willing to help me please do this fill up you truck, reset trip A drive until your gas light comes on, fill up, take the miles from trip A and divide them by the gallons of gas you put in your empty tank to the tenth ( example 22.3 ) and post the MPGs you got and tire size and brand
