With 3800 miles and 275/60r20 (=33x11.0) on OEM wheels my computer 'best' is usually at 21.1 and average is usually 15ish. My driving is mostly in town driving with 3-4 mile stints of 60 mph highway mixed in.

My tires are BFG KO2's, 2.5 level and add-a-leaf in rear and air dam trimmed down to 1".

On a side note, that same driving with my previous truck (2013 6.2 F150 Raptor crew that was stock w/ tune) would've been 10-11 city and 14-15 highway.

Best here is 22.6 mpg

275/60-20 BFG KO2, 2" RC level, no air dam, 6.2/8spd, 3.42, tire size corrected and AFM turned off

My average is 15-18 depending on how short my trips are. This truck is just like 2014 5.3 where it gets shit gas mileage until it warms up.

And this is mid 70's mph on the highway, not 55-60 on back country roads. Took this a little while before hitting my best mpg

Curious about this as well. My stock tires weigh 35# each. So, curious how going to a 55# tire would change mpg. With 1750 on my 15 6.2, I'm averaging 21 right now.

I think the big swinger on tire effect on mileage is diameter, followed by rolling resistance, then weight. Maybe rolling resistance, followed by diameter, then weight.

If you could magically increase the weight of your existing tires, I believe it would have a very small effect on mileage.

In my case, the 2014 I just traded in had 295 55 20 toyo at 2 (60# each) with fuel hostage 20x10 (41# each). That 5.3 motor geared 3.42 averaged 13.8 Now, I'm real curios how this 6.2 motor would do with same combo. Stock wheels/tires on my 2015 weigh 63# each. Adding 38# per wheel/tire has to knock power/mpg, I'm just hoping to hear from someone with similiar wheel/tire weights.

I have 275/60/20 Cooper AT3s and got 15 city and 22 highway... Normally 23yr old driving style

Now I have 295/55/20 Cooper STT PROs and get 14 city and 18 highway.... Granny driving style..

Really considering moving back to the AT3s .. If I do alot of city driving I get 12 mpg

I would guess that diameter is last.

Let's say you go from a 31.9" stock tire (275/55-20) to a 33" tire (275/60-20). You're actually going to have to push 2068rpm in the smaller tire to achieve the same speed (say 75mph) as the taller tire at 2000rpm

68rpm really isn't much. Also, a taller tire would in theory be more efficient on the highway (less engine RPM), just like a higher gear ratio.

Here's a decent article from 4 wheeler about tires and mpg. They found ~ 15% better mileage with Michelin LTX's vs some Dick Cepek AT's

Are theas actuall hand calculated numbers because I don't get 21 MPGs with stock 35 lb tires ?

Posted

Mine are from the computer and I added 3% to compensate for added distance traveled because of my 1" taller tires.

Posted

So theas numbes are an estimate has any one corrected the tire size in the computer and done a hand calculated figure that's what I'm looking for a TRUE real word compleat tank of gas not a last 50 mile computer guess

In reality the uncorrected numbers should be worse than actual sense your going fewer miles than it thinks

i put 13,000 miles on my 14 6.2 4x4 Z71 double cab standard bed. it had 275/65-18 nitto terra grapplers xl rated (or p rated basically). averaged 18mpg 80% hwy running 70-75. took it on a 2500 mile trip and averaged 19.8 mpg. i used only 93 octane. not sure how any of these guys were getting 20+ with oversized e/lt rated all terrains.

I with you on that that's why I'm asking true MPGs the whole tank no one wants to say we know it's in the 14 to 16 range if that my 09 5.3 averaged 16 and when I put 275 70 18 copper st max on it the best I got was 14 on the highway and 12 13 in town so I know it's going to drop I just do t know how much with the 6.2 I'm asking because I want new more aggressive tires but not at the cost of every day driving of 13 MPGs I'm averaging18 now come on people fill up reset trip A drive till the gas light comes on and fill up and do the math

Also if you really want to be accurate use the same pump at the same station and allow it to just cut off on its own. My tires were not Lt or E and were only .5 wider and taller so not a huge change from stock on weight or size. I fully recommend something similar for you if you are concerned with mpg. No possible way a new 6.2 4x4 ccsb gets 22 mpg with 2 sizes too big E rated 60lb tires. Math does not compute. The trucks are not even rated that high from the factory with stock tires.
