Removed GM Drop in bed liner, need new tailgate hardware....

Ok, so i bought a Bakflip F1 tonneau cover, along with a bedrug. The bakflip F1 was delivered today, so i removed the GM drop in bed liner, and tailgate liner, washed out the bed, and installed the bakflip. The bedrug is supposed to be here on thursday.

The problem i ran into, is that the screws holding the panel covering the tailgate lock on the inside are meant to be used with the tailgate liner. So when i screw them in with the liner removed, they stick out about 1/2".

My question is, Where can i get screws that fit flush without the tailgate liner that i can use under the bedrug? Or are they a common size screw i can pick up from home depot?

I can post pictures if needed.

If it were me I'd pay the extra price from the Dealer they arent a common run of the mill screw.

My local HD has a set up with different nuts that you can screw yours into to get the size . Specialty fasteners are in drawers. I usually have better luck at Ace Hardware. You cold always just cut yours off. Good luck.

How does the bed rug install? It should cover the holes up when you take the screws out.

The 6 holes at the front panel are self tapping screws that drill into the sheet metal when the bed liners are installed. The two on the tailgate towards the bottom of it (closest to the bed when the gate is open) are the same deal, and the two (one per side) on the bed side near the tail lamps. All trucks when built don't have those holes/screws.

The only ones you really need to worry about are the 8 that hold that panel near the spoiler down.

You can have your dealer order them yes.

FYI those screws from the stealership are almost 6 bucks each ( about 48 bucks for 8 damn screws). I had the same issue when I removed mine for a spray on liner. The collar on the bedliner hardware is what is killing you, so cutting the fastener shorter will not help you. I bought replacements at NAPA and paid about 4 bucks for all 8. They arent the OEM torx head but if you are installing a bed rug it wont matter anyway.

Do you recall what size screws you used? Doesnt matter if theyre torx, id rather have a phillips head screw anyways.

I had the same issue when I removed my drop in liner and went with my Line-x. The screws from the dealer are pricey for what they are something like $50. You probably can find what you need at your big hardware store or auto parts store, for one the replacement screw you need is a Phillips head flush screw with a much smaller flange washer. My issue when searching was the screw weren't black, you can just hit up the screw with some krylon and be done, I went with the dealer because I didn't know how long the screw was or how big the head was supposed to be and there was nothing close to the screw you currently have but shorter. I referenced a couple trucks on the dealer lot to see what the screw was supposed to be without the drop in liner and at that time the head was exactly the same size as the one you have, but shorter; they changed the current screw being used during the production line of 2014 according to my dealer when I bought them.

M4x1.41x16 is the size of the factory screw.

I believe the size above is correct. Mine ended up being hex head but Im sure they have others. My suggestions would be to remove one of the existing screws and take it to NAPA and match it up, they have a wide variety of small automotive hardware and I'm sure will have more than one option for you.

Does bedrug include a piece for the tailgate?

And hardware to hold it?

Why not put the tailgate liner back in til you get the new one?

Bedrug includes a piece for the tailgate, but does not use the hardware. It uses velcro tabs. It makes sense to replace the screws before installing the Bedrug.
