cluster dead now what?

I have a 2003 avalanche that was just purchased for my son. Put a new battery in now 2 days later cluster acts up, dead sometimeswhen started but run fine now today the cluster is not doing anything. what do i do?

Not sure about yours - but the body control module (BCM) runs the dash & interior, that computer (BCM) can screw up and fix itself, or can be reset by restarting the truck or dis-connecting the battery ... maybe yours will settle down and be ok ... btw- you can drive your truck without the cluster installed / plugged in ... and no mileage will be recorded - now everyone knows ...

 

Is anything else in the interior having issues, locks, dome light ... ? if yes then maybe the BCM

 

If needed - see amazon for companies that can repair your cluster (swap yours for a re-furbiashed one) and it will include your current mileage and a Trans Temp gauge - about $100, and the cluster comes out very simplw in about 3 minutes ...
