Brakes/abs

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 5.3 4x4 that when i brake sometimes it will vibrate real bad and my pedal gets real hard to push. Usually only happens at low speeds or when i hit a bump while braking. My dad thinks its an ABS problem and i should just pull the fuse and i will be fine but will that mess anything up or make the light light up? Thanks in advance.

The problem is your front hubs. replace them and you will not have the issue anymore. The wheel speed sensors are not getting the correct reading at low speeds and causing the ABS to activate. I have done this repair a hundred times. Pulling the ABS fuse will stop the low speed activation but you will have two dash lights on and unsafe brakes as the rears are electronically proportioned.

^^^ What he said. The ABS sensor is located in your front wheel bearing/hub. When you hit a bump or turn at low speeds, the play in the bearing causes the ABS to think you are locking up the brakes.

There was a recall for corrosion on the wheel speed sensors, which causes unwanted activation of the ABS, especially at low speeds. Had the same thing on my '01 Burb.
