6.2 block heater

dealer says no block heater available for 6.2 Denali gas engine. Refuse to believe block heater can't be installed. Comments/ suggestions?

My 2015 with a 6.2 has a block heater from the factory..

It's optional equipment - about 100 dollars Canadian. ( I have it on my 2015 Denali )

It is available, but in case you didn't know, it contains a thermostat in the plug that only allows the block heater to work when the temperature drops below 0 degrees F. I read somewhere if the block is heated after sitting for over eight hours, it will turn on a CEL. So it has to be pretty damn cold before it even works in the first place. On my 08 Denali, I cut the thermostat plug off and installed a regular plug. Used it all the time when below about 20 degrees and never had a problem. The truck had been tuned and had headers so don't know if that had any effect or not.

I searched and didn't find a part number for the OEM heater. But lots of people have removed the thermostat in the OEM block heater and jumped the circuit with success.

 

If it is really butt cold where you're at, I'd install an oil pan heater as well.

X2, thats what I have always used. Works much better in my experience, Wolverine is the most durable!
