Oil pressure guage reading zero and does not move at all

Hello I have a 2009 gmc cc 4x4 and went to drive it today and after about 5 min I noticed the CEL Light was on. I then noticed the oil pressure was pegged at zero.

No other warnings noticed.

I decided to turn around and head back home.

I was wodering why the oil pressure warning light did not come on?

Truck appeared to run fine.

I've been reading that it could be the oil pressure sensor?

Would it be safe to say that there probably is oil pressure since the oil pressure light never came on, only check engine light?

How hard is it to test the oil pressure externally?

That oil pressure sensor looks like it is pretty hard to get to. Almost impossible without removing some things.

Intake manifold has to come off to get to the senor. Dealer has a screw on gauge adapter they test with in place of the oil filter.

Update

Ordered ACDelco # 213-4411 from Amazon for ~$25.

Borrowed 1-1/16 1/2 inch deep socket from work.

Removed connector from old sensor.

*** this can be tricky if you have never done this. I learned the whit/grey clip that is on the connector has to be pushed up and out from the top. It actually comes off. Then if you push the connector towards the direction where the clip was, it comes off easily.

Removed the sensor with 1/2 inch 1-1/16 deep socket with swivel attached and 5 inch extension and ratchet.

Removed the screen with small plastic pick I had.

Mine was really clean, so I just put it back in.

Installed the new sensor and re-connected the connector.

Started her up and pressure read ~42 at idle. Drove around the block and she goes up to ~50 when I get on the gas.

Removed the positive terminal from battery for about 15 min. to re-set the Check Engine Light.

Re-connected battery and started back up and no CEL and good pressure reading now.

I definitely would not remove the intake manifold. It was not that bad once I figured out how get the connector off of the sensor.
