Door lock function on 2011 Sierra

When exit my truck my lock button on the door will not lock but my key fob locks them not that it's a big thing but sometimes while I'm closing the door I hit the lock button. Is there a reason for that?

May be a broken switch....not uncommon. If the key is in hitting the lock button will cycle but not lock to keep you from getting locked out.

Mine works with the lock switch, I often lock it that way when I get out.

If you have the delayed locking feature, t won't lock immediately, If you hit the door lock switch, you get three chimes. Once you close the door, after 5 seconds, the doors will lock and the horn will chirp, You can hit the door lock button a second time to override. I guess it's to prevent a possible lockout?

The passenger side does that except the horn chirp. I was told id I bought the panei switch that it would need to be programmed I thought if nothing else I can buy it try and see if it works them

n get it programmed. The bad part is that you can't buy the door lock seperate you have to get the whole panel window's, and side mirror control's.

Do you have the Silverado/Sierra interior in your Sierra (the base interior style)? Or the Tahoe/Yukon interior (chrome door handle up top of door panel)?

It's a sierra with the gray It's an LS.

I had time today and found a Dorman just the door lock/unlock switch for $10. Like I said earlier I would need the whole panel and be programmed b some of the reviews said it was plug and play what do you guys think? I would hate to put it in and mess up my locks any info would be appreciated.

Yes It's simple to install just wondering if it's going to have to be programmed since the b*****d at the dealership 1st. told me you had to buy the whole panel 2nd. then be programmed. Thanks for the video I actually took the panel off without removing the door handle but will remove it when I rplace the switch to make it easier.

I think it is just a switch with contacts inside and no ICs. So I don't think there is anything inside that can be programmed. I am sure if I am wrong (wouldn't be the firs time) some one will jump in an correct me.
