Migraine inducing rattle from rear seat area

Man I tell ya, if it ain't one thing its another.

I have a Very annoying rattle coming from what seems like both rear doors. Same rattle. Both sides. Not sure but it sounds like metal to metal. Or had plastic to metal. It happens at any speed over 40mph on a semi bumpy road. Can't even use my Bluetooth phone connection without it getting in the way.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I did a once over on all the bolts I could find to make sure they were tight. I swear its coming from the rear seat or doors.

are your windows open? If so, it's the seat belt rattling against the side - happened to me also

Did you check under your seats? When I test drove my Sierra it had a rattle and it was the box of bed hooks under the back seat. Check jack and lug wrench. Also, put your rear seats up then drive it.

Nothing under rear seat. Checked the jack and toolset. All tight

. Can't seem to recreate it by banging my palms on the seat or door. Only when driving which makes it impossible to diagnose by myself.

Sometimes when a passenger exits my truck, the seat belt twists so that it does not lay flat against the seat. When this happens, it bangs against the pillar and drives me nuts. Could be the same thing you're hearing? It does sound lie it's coming from the back door area...

Check to see if the plastic u-shapes guides are still snapped on to the metal horseshoe guides. They're hard to see and harder to get to. Fold up the rear backrests and look down between the seat and glass. There is one located in each corner. They make a hell of a racket when they come off.

So I took a look back there and they looked to be in place. I did pin it down some more. It stops when the rear seats are folded up. Regardless if the seatbelts are latched or not. Thought it might be the seat belt clip arms, but they actually are further from the seat bracket when its folded down. Still searchin....

That's why I said pick the seats up then drive it to see if it would stop. I had a 2011 Silverado with a subwoofer box under the rear seat and when I first installed it, the box was a little too far back and the seats weren't quite all the way down and it had a rattle. When I'd pick up the seats it would stop. I moved the box forward a little where the seats fully seated back down and the rattle stopped. If your seats are fully seated down then not sure???

I had problems with my seats and the doors. The rear seatback should not have any play in it whether it is up or down. My truck didn't come from the factory with those plastic rubber clips around that bracket that beetle mentioned, but even then it should be solid, I had to have some parts in the hinges replaced under warranty to stop the seatback from moving around.

On the doors I thought it was coming from either the seat or the pillars for a long time but it ended up being in the rear door latch mechanism, which is plastic. Spray some WD-40 or silicone in the latch. That one was super annoying when I would hit bumps just right. hope you find yours!

Hmmmm....ya know I dont recall it happening until I put my sub box in also. I'll check this first. Then I'll move on if not.

I'll bet that's your culprit and your seats aren't all the way down with the sub box :P. Pull the box out and check that the seats are all the way down.

My 2014 rear seats rattled when down also.Drove me freaking nuts so I just drove with them up all of the time. My 2015 seats are well behaved and quite in both positions.

I have the same issue, it's like the top of the rear seat where the middle seat belt comes out hits the window or that plastic cap hits it and it's just none stop I might just shave it down a bit and hopefully that solves the problem but I'm not sure.
