Help me fix my screw up!

So I was soldering led lights in my A/C control and after I plugged it in when I was done, not only did my led lights not work but my cluster illumination doesn't work now either. Oh yeah and when I turn my light switch to on the chime is gone now with the door open. All other lightswork, Turn, Hazard, high beam, cruise and all warning lights. I have checked and double checked fuses (with a meter) and all connections and I am spent. Please help me!

Need some more specs on the truck in question.

Year?

Did you solder the LED's while it was plugged in? If so, I imagine you've done some decent damage. If not, I would try reversing what you have done and see if that helps.

Just so I understand this, you were soldering on your A/C controls, and now your gauges don't light up anymore?

2001 Silverado 2500HD 2wd crew cab 6.0L. Yes I soldered my lights in so I can see that I might have screwed those up, buy why is my lights chime and instrument cluster illumination gone too?

The lights indirectly plug into your stock radio which has the "Ding" and timer circuit. While that part of the system is toast, IF you unplug the radio, your dash lights might work.

I'd start to check the "unlikely".

I guess that you have disconnected the unit before the repair.

Even though you might have checked every connection 10 times, do it again.

I assume that it is not your first attempt on fixing electronics. That's why I don't think that your soldering is the problem.

I don't have the stock radio installed. It's a double din pioneer......

Could one of the LEDs be shorted internally, causing the entire circuit to be shorted?

And I don't know how they attach, but could you have dribbled solder across two circuits?

You might have fried a protection diode somewhere...most circuits have them, they act like a fuse.

the ac control running lights and the dash running lights are on same circuit. 1. Either something is shorted as been said, OR you have a 12v open somewhere. Some Leds are in series on the lil boards and some are in parrallel, depending on the load and their dimming ability. Time to get out aVOM and check for power.. good luck

Did you make sure you soldered in your led's the right way? Electricity will only go through them one way, so if you have them backwards it will block any current. Just for reference, the longer leg on an led is the positive leg.
