Heater coil/coolant leak/something else??

Ok, so I searched around here and all I can come up with are a couple of old threads. I hope someone can give me some feedback....maybe someone else has experienced this recently.

The last week or so I've noticed a faint coolant smell in the cab while driving and running the heat. The past few nights when I've gotten out of work and in the truck to go home there has been a LOT of moisture on the inside of the windsheild. The truck sits for 12-13 hours while I'm at work. Possible heater coil I suspect....has anyone else seen this in their new truck?? Any luck getting the dealer to pull the coil and check it or did you get the run around??

Thanks.

Well, I just scheduled an appt with the service dept. Hope they check the heater core instead of saying the can't smell it and send me on my way. Reading the older posts don't instill much confidence. Does the dash have to be removed completely to make thus repair like they do in the previous models??

werked, I recall there was an issue as you describe with coolant smell and moisture on the windshield that some members had. There was some sort of pressure test that passed, but visual inspection of the heater core showed leaking. I thought this was in the Techlink but didn't find it in a quick search. You may want to look in each archive here http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/

Don't know what it takes to check the heater core...see my next post for a link to Techlink...
