Headlight upgrade

So I am wanting to upgrade to LEDs. But from what I have been able to ascertain, without projectors there will be no cut off line,no real focal point & potentially blinding oncoming traffic. Did some research into aftermarket projector assemblies & couldn't find anything of real quality or configuration I want. Was looking at the Morimotos to do a retro but they say they won't fit.

So my questions R; Has Anyone done an upgrade on the older style Sierra headlights? Am I correct in my analysis of LEDs need of projectors? Can anyone recommend a projector retro that will fit into oem style assemblies?

I am happy with new housings and the cheap mod to pull power directly from your bateryband run all 4 headligt on hi beam.

From what little I understand LED's don't work properly with projectors . something to do with the placement of the chips . I thought the LED's chip placement was designed to be used as a plug and play and work in our old headlights just fine. I wanted HID , so I bought the projector headlights from dashz racing . I recommend against those particular lights. The set I bought stripped the adjuster screws first use. The entire assembly had to be shimmed about 1/2 inch at the top to get the headlight beams to hit the road, not the sky. And the lights I have are not water tight. Lots of condensation inside the headlight . Also maybe because you have to use a H-1 bulb or maybe the small diameter projector , the light is not very bright . When I am ready to try and go brighter I will put my stock headlights back in and buy a better bulb and ceramic base from http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ Also, clear lenses can make a huge difference , But good luck finding something that has good adjusters and any quality to them.

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciated. I've been running the high low MOD for several years and am quiet happy with it. Unfortunately is does me no good with oncoming traffic nor does it focus the light. I did find a place that I believe will custom retro projectors. Haven't contacted them yet. I'll try to post a link later.

Vleds claims their LEDs work in projectors they also claim when used in standard housings they are adjustable at least to some degree. What the heck, I'm going to give their 3000 lm platinum series a try. Hopefully I won't be getting flashed constantly.

I ordered a set of projectors but they were so cheap... Anyway, just got a set of clear lens assemblies on Saturday. So your happy with yours? I'm kinda worried that every little scratch & rock chip will stand out like the dreaded booger and nose hair.

I have an 1994 Silverado, K1500, 5.0. Have the composite headlights.

Am looking for better bulb. Factory is weak on rainy nights.
