FYI on a 14 bolt 9.5" ring gear diff

Just serviced mine on the weekend due to some chattering going on during tight turns while going slow. The worst was making U-turns, I had to actually power through the turn cause the rear diff won't unlock properly. Anyway did some research on it and found it was some what common. So I dumped the fluid and put in GM recommended 75-90 synthetic. It takes 3.5 quarts to fill the 14 bolt rear diff to the fill hole on the 1500's. Not 2.5 quarts like I was told and read about. 2.5 quarts is for a 10 bolt 8.5 ring gear diff. Truck only has 52000miles on it. Rear diff works great no more chattering.
