What in the world could this be for?

??? I was working on my truck the other day and I had it jacked up.  I then caked it up more to see what it will look like in the wheel wells when I get the 3 inch lift.  (I know (Dork)).  Anyway.  I looked in the front driverside  front wheelwell and noticed a blackwire with plastic boxy thing with a cap.  At first I thought it was just a computer plug in.  I popped the cap and to my amazment it was a 3 pronged AC Plug.  It is all corroded and what not mut it is plug as if to plug into the wall.  Is this a Block Heater?  I have never seen one before.  And it is definatly not something I need here in Jersey.  Kinda cool though.  I am affraid to plug it in though.  LOL.  Let me know what you all think. :thumb:

This past weekend while changed out the front shocks, I found the same thing on my 99 GMC sierra,  Tonight i'll be changing the oil, so I can find where that cord goes to.   But i'm sure it's a block heater.

Was these an option on the trucks from factory?
