looking to buy new

Am hoping to purchase new 2015 Silverado within a few months. If I wait too long and all the 15s are gone I will wait til next redesign because I hate the 16 Silverado front end. I was thinking the v6 should fit all my needs. How do owners like this engine? Does it have afm and if so do you reccommend a tune to shut off? Didnt know if this gen had afm issues like previous gen? Also any advantage to v6 over v8?

Boy I'm not sure I'd wait a few months. I'm in the same boat you are, didn't really care for the 2016 nor them taking away the 2 year maintenance package so I bought a new 2015 a few weeks ago. The dealer had 4-5 more on the lot and my saleswoman told me they were being told to do whatever they needed to do to move them. Just checked their inventory on line before posting this, they are all gone, except for a demo with 12,000 miles on it. I don't get the feel this is going to be like the 2014s, where there are still some new ones on the lots that have been sitting there for a year, maybe more..

Personally, if I could get a good deal on a 2015 truck I like, I'd pull the trigger. You should have no problem getting 10-12K off sticker for a pretty nice Silverado right now.

With the 16's hitting the lots the 15's should go fairly quick and cheap. The 5.3 is a great engine with great MPG's. I'd expand your search and be willing to drive if I was you. You'll get a deal!

I agree with the above comments about expanding your search area to capitalize on getting a great deal. Hell, I would easily drive a few hundred miles to get a great deal on a vehicle. If you're not tied to one particular color, you should fine something.

I bought a V6 and while I really like the truck, I wish I had gone with the 5.3. I actually didn't even test drive the 5.3 at the time because when I started looking, I was after a Colorado, but I could get into a Silverado for the same cost. I test drove the 5.3 a few weeks ago and prefer the extra power that's there when needed. Driving around hilly Seattle, I just think the 5.3 would have been the better choice for me

I actually like the 2016's. As far as engines go I think youll be happy with whichever one you choose. But like Tek 74 said the v6 will probably effect your resale. A tune will do wonders for driveability as all of them are heavily restricted from the factory. Good luck on the purchase.

Based on what I've seen locally, I'm pretty sure there are more 5.3s out there than V-6s, so I would think the deals would be better on the 5.3s.

Good luck and post up pics when you bring her home.
