I have a 2015 Silverado TLZ , the first thing I did was get rid of the low clearance bumper and replaced it with a bumper from Addictive Desert Design, the Honey Badger bumper, I couldn't reuse the stock 35 watt fog lights, I installed 55 watt Ridgid led fogs, I used the same stock wiring that connected the original 35 watt lights, the new led Ridgid lights are more of a driving light, I am very happy with them, my concern is that the increased wattage may fry the wiring if I run them too long, a mechanic at chevy told me I should add a relay! Doesn't it already have a relay? Should I be concerned about overheating the wires?

Thanks Chebbyfan, if you haven't burned out your factory fog light wiring with 80 watts I must be ok, tell me if things go sideways.

The fuses in a well designed circuit should be sized to protect the wiring. If you change the fuse rating to a higher rating, you defeat the wiring protection.

I'd guess the OEM 27 watt bulb is has a wiring capable of several times more current draw....as has been proven. If you blow a fuse, don't put a bigger one in, add the relay circuit.

You are also talking about a 35w incandescent bulb versus a 55w LED bulb now, while the output is higher for the LED the current draw is probably half of what the stock bulbs pulled. You will be fine....

Anything like that were I question the power I just run power from the battery and use the factory wiring to power up a relay.

Just watch for any sign's of melting. I upgraded the lights in a car years ago and melted the bezel.

Would those 55 watt Regids work with stock bumper/socket? What is the part no. on the Rigid bulbs? I'm no a great internet surfer and can't find them, please.

I didn't use the factory fog light plug in, I cut the wire and soldered the Ridgid plugs on the factory wires, the factory fogs aren't bright enough, the ridgid fogs are awesome!
