18" Tire Size

OK guys, I picked up a 2016 Silverado with the dreaded Good for one Year Wrangler SR-A rubber on it. Trying to get the dealer to hook me up with a deal on new tires, if all else fails Discount Tire said they'll give me $200 of a new set with trade in of the GY's.

265/65/18 is the stock size which equates to a 31.6" tall x 10.4" wide tire. There are not as many options in this size.

I am wondering if I went with a 275/65/18 which is 32.1" tall x 10.8" wide, if I would have any issues. I'm thinking 1/2" taller and .4" wider shouldn't really make much never mind either way right?

Thanks!

FWIW I'm considering getting General Grabber AT2's if I goto discount tire or if the dealer is willing to work with me and give me a better deal, they seem to be putting Bridgestone Dueler AT tires on their used trucks on the lot so I am thinking they'd probably have some kind of deal on those.

There are a bunch of tires out there in the 265/65-18 size. TireRack.com has 32 listed.

You can go 275/65-18 without any issues. I did that on my Yukon. You could also go 285/65-18 on the 2014+ trucks without any issues.

Grabber AT2, Hankook ATM RF10, Cooper ATP, those are all good options from Discount and all around the $155-165 price range.

Thanks for the fast reply! Yes tire rack has 32 truck tires to choose from I guess I should have said that the generals I really like aren't one of 'em more so than there are more selections in other sizes.

I put the Cooper ATP 275/65/18 on my 2012 Sierra, built for Discount and only available from them.

No complaints.

Recently went to our mountain home, no road maintenance to get there, 6 inches of snow with drifts to 20 inches, minus 10 degrees, 4 low no problem. Had to back up a couple times and take another run to keep wheels from spinning, but made it.

I put those on my Silverado a couple of weeks back, so far they've been great in all conditions.

I have the General Grabbers on my truck and love them. Tread pattern is almost identical to the BF Goodrich but cheaper.

I was going to get those but, they had an extra $75 off on the Coopers so they were a little cheaper. I had Grabber HTS on my last truck and for a highway tire they really gripped well. I have general all season tires on my wife's car and they're quite nice.

Had the general grabber at2's on my wrangler... Absolutely loved them, were great in the snow and wet surfaces.. This summer they are definitely going on this truck.. On the jeeps they wear like iron too..

I have a little issue that I'm looking for help with and maybe someone else has the same problem....I have a 2018 Crew Cab Z71 Silverado with 18" rims.  I put a 2" Motofab front leveling kit and the factory tires rub on the upper control arm when the truck is full lock on hills at slow speed.  Factory tires are Goodyear Wrangler 265 65/R18s.  I installed 1/4" wheel spacers and put masking tape on the areas being rubbed and it has stopped.  My goal here with adding the leveling kit was to give more ground clearance for the air dam and eventually put on a slightly more agressive, taller tire.  I wanted to replace the factory tires with 275 70/r18 but I'm afraid I'll get rubbing on the control arm.  What bothers me is it seem (from looking through chat rooms) guys are running up to 285s without rubbing.  I think I'm fine for height to accommodate a taller tire, like a 265 70/R18 - which is really what I want, but I don't think I can any wider and don't want to add a thicker wheel spacer.  I'm wondering if this is is a sidewall issue with the stock tire?  Has anyone else had this issue?  Ideas? suggestion? thanks in advance
