Supercharged SS

Well, after a lot of studying and shopping, I finally did it.  Got the supercharger installed on my Silverado SS.  I think that is the biggest purchase I have ever made on a credit card  :jester: .

I was pretty much settled on the Whipple, then I gave the Magnacharger a good look and decided I liked it better.  I had not given the Magnacharger much consideration the first time around because their website was awful, at the time, and they did not answer my email inquiry.  Some of the reasons I choose the Magnacharger over the Whipple:

-Intercooler.

-Better fuel management.  Uses larger injectors in stock positions.

-Re-programs existing computer rather than fooling it with an auxiliary computer.

-3 year 36,000 mile drive train warranty available.

-Many after market companies choose it over the Whipple (Lingenfelter and  Chapman SuperTrucks).

-A supercharger just looks better sitting on top of the engine like this.

I still think the Lysholm twin-screw is a better technology than the roots, but the package from Magnacharger seems to be better designed.

I love the low end power this supercharger gives :smash: .  Can't wait to get it to the track and see what I got for my money :bs:

Wow! It is certainly a good looking install. What kind of performance increases are you expecting?   :thumb:

What kind of performance increases are you expecting?

Stock

345 flywheel HP

approximately 290 RW HP (derived from vehicle weight and quarter mile time)

15.3 quarter mile

With the supercharger, I am expecting a 40% increase so this is what I expect:

483 flywheel HP

406 RW HP

13.7 quarter mile

Looks great, and I too had to clean up after my drool session.  :hail:

Look forward to hearing about your new times.  I see C&D had the std SS run a 14.8 quarter mile @ 90 mph, I think it was (heard this 2nd hand).

Did they turn off torque management for your installation?   :thumb:  :thumb:

Good looking install. Double check your pulley alignment, your belt looks like it is fraying.

Your right, I hadn't noticed that in person.  I did take a look at the belt from the side to see how things lined up, so I don't think it is out of alignment. I have changed the belt you see in the picture.  It came with a Gates belt and I put on a Goodyear GatorBack.  The GatorBacks last forever and are less likely to slip.  Tossed the Gates belt under the seat just in case.  If the belt ever does fail, it will happen in the middle of nowhere, and it will be impossible to find the odd length belt.  Not a Pep Boys kind of thing.

Awesome!!  That blower looks like should have been there from the factory!

Now you can surprise a few unexpecting Lightnings

That's what I was thinking.  It looks factory!  Great sanitary install! :thumb:
