Plow Prep Package

Recommended Posts

Now you have me curious. I would like to know also. I have never even taken a look at my 2500 with the plow prep. I have flipped the switch once for kicks and noticed a small "on" light in it, so it must be wired to something. Will have to take a closer look this weekend.

#PIT5274: Roof Beacon Lighting Harness Location - (Apr 7, 2014)

Subject: Roof Beacon Lighting Harness Location

Models: 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2015 GMC Sierra 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 With Roof Lamp / Beacon Wiring Provisions (RPO TRW) or Snow Plow Prep Package (RPO VYU)

Some owners may question where the blunt cut wires are located for the roof beacon light.

There are two wires located directly above the overhead roof console. Remove the complete overhead roof console and the wires are taped to the harness, as shown below.

Note: The roof beacon relay is located directly above the overhead roof console.

The picture they use is very crappy, but they show it taped towards the front of the console on what appears to be the console harness. Black wire with a green mark on the end of it.

I tried to turn mine on, an my little light doesn't even light up. I want to hook an LED light bar to that switch so I keep a clean factory looking interior.

See where the fuse is for the overhead wire and test it. Guessing there is no fuse in the slot.

I want to say I remember the switch being 30A which would probably be perfect for a light bar.

That's perfect, Xelli! I finally found it. However, now I need to find the other side, it is currently plugged into the overhead console. Is the other end just taped up somewhere in the headliner?

According to the PDF they are:
