Cannot use apple maps or pandora on my 2015 Silverado with Mylink

Anyone have this issue? I have tried restarting me phone and messing with settings in the phone but I cant get it to link up. Phone connects through Bluetooth no problem and also it will read my incoming texts to me but wont send any back out like the default messages. I have a feeling its apple being apple, but maybe its me. Any insight? Thanks in advance.

That's annoying, stupid apple products. I wonder if I connect via USB if the maps would work. When the phone is connected via Bluetooth and I turn on maps its just silent which defeats the purpose. Thanks for the reply.

Apple Maps sucks anyways. Use Google Maps, there is a feature that allows the Google Map voice directions to interrupt the radio and read off directions. Pretty snazzy.

 

In order for the Pandora MyLink app to work , you need to plug in your iPhone with a usb. Alternatively, you can stream Bluetooth Pandora from your iPhone, just not via the MyLink Pandora app. Just hit the media button on your dash until you get to the Bluetooth source, and the audio should come thru.

Thanks for the heads up, I used Bluetooth with Pandora this morning on my way to work and I downloaded google maps, still have to try that out.

I noticed my Pandora doesn't work anymore even when its plugged in with an Apple cord. Before it didn't work with a off brand cord then I used the Apple cord and it worked no problem. Haven'y used the Pandora app for couple months then tried last week and it will not work I think it has something to do with the last IOS update.

My MyLink Pandora app stopped working when my OnStar trial expired. I believe I read its part of the OnStar plan when I looked into it. So as was stated earlier, I just sync Bluetooth and stream through my iPhone Pandora app. No issues at all.

I use Waze which is what Google Maps uses for traffic. It's voice prompts go over Bluetooth.

 

I'm sure you can get Pandora to work over Bluetooth; you just may not be able to see it on the infotainment screen.

Interesting. I have a Samsung GS5 and the pandora app on mylink works great for me through bluetooth.

I had a 2015, I'm an android user, Pandora worked flawless for me either thru bluetooth or usb.

At least you guys have Pandora. In Canada not an option, not even on the app screen on the truck

You can still bluetooth stream pandora from your phone tho. Make sure your phone is connected via bluetooth, then turn on Pandora on your phone, and press the "media" button on your radio until it gets to bluetooth. Them music should come through.

 

You really aren't missing much with the built in "app." Basically all it gives is album artwork and a thumbs up/down button on the 8" screen. Big whoop.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.

      To me it honestly makes zero difference what filter you run. It's not a race engine, just a truck engine that's mostly bumming highways and it just needs a filter that filters oil.   The filter used to be a 7060 and the long version was a 7045. Now it's the newer updated filter that the K2XX trucks and newer run, the 100255 I believe if we are using napa numbers. Any of those filters is going to do the job.   I wouldn't overthink it, to me it makes no difference because those first filter numbers worked for 18+ years before the spec suddenly changed.
