Sorry to post yet another thread in regards to lighting but I have a question which I can't seem to find a straight answer.

I have a 2014 Silverado LT with the stock reflector housing head lights. Without out doing a retro fit to get projector headlights and then add HID's, will LED bulbs work in a reflector housing, and if so which are the recommended LED's that people have been using.

in a standard reflector there is no led light that functions well. they will light up the area in front of your truck, but they do not project down the road well. if like i do drive alot of roads that hav e no streeet lights you are not going to like them. i tried opt 7 and all they did was light up in front of the truck really well, but i drive dark country roads and could not see down the road. the stock headlights were better than the leds.

See I've seen such conflicting statements on this. Some people say that LEDs were made for reflector housings, while others say projectors .

I like mine. I have XenonDepot LEDs in mine and they work well especially with led fogs

Reflector or projector housing?

I have reflectors. I bought them off a member here that had projectors and he said they didn't work too well in them. If you get led fogs, get the upgraded ones. Mine are 2500lm and they are bright. The fogs scatter the light so they don't project far but they light up more than both sides of the road.

Hello, I am looking to put led lights in my lows and highs. Unfortunately I have the reflector housings and not the projectors. Does anyone have any experience with leds in reflector housings along with results. I will not run a setup if it is blinding everyone on the road. Let me know what some good brands are or if led lights can be ran in these housings safely. I have previously been looking at vleds but don't want to pull the trigger until I have some solid info. Thanks

Mine work fine in reflector housings. They are slightly brighter than stock and I like the color. I have never had anyone flash me with the headlights. The fogs I put in are a different story. They are bright and if I forget to turn them off, oncoming traffic usually reminds me.

are they a direct replacement? Or do I need to buy relays, etc for them? Any chance you can post the part numbers or links to the ones you purchased? Thanks!

They are a direct replacement. No relays to buy but I did get the CANBUS for them so the light dosnt come on. Not sure if it was actually needed though. I didnt get it for the fogs. There is a dust cover on the back of the headlight bulbs. i cut a hole in them to allow air to flow over the back of the bulb. If I ever have to remove them, I would just leave them off. Heads lights are a good fit. Passenger side is a bit tricky to get to because you have to remove the air box for access (10min job). The fogs snapped in but felt a little wiggly compared to how tight the headlights snapped in, so I ran a dab of silicone adhesive around them. At least I know they are secure and water tight now. Did you feed the heat sinks through the hole you cut in the dust cover?

There are 4 loops. I tried to get 2 thru the hole. I have checked them after I got back from driving for a while and they weren't hot. Not sure how hot they actually get. I think if you just have air circulating around them it's fine
