What is this thing? Makes a lot of noise.

It's located in the overhead compartment when the sunglass holder is open, on the right hand side, just in front of the the cam latch mechanism that engages the track to fully or partially close the holder. The little loose black piece in the middle moves around and this noisy little bugger sounds like a Lego piece in an empty bin when driving over a large bump or series of bumps. What is it? My wife's Denali has one that isn't nearly as noisy (same general movement and functionality to the piece, but maybe a little tighter resulting in less play and noise). Mine just happens to sound really bad and annoying, even when moving it or flicking it with your finger. Anything I can do about it? It's driven me crazy since we bought the vehicle.

 

I almost just ripped it out the other day, but figured if someone put it there, it was put put there for a purpose.

Lol... we were just talking about this in another post. Remove it, it does nothing but cause rattle

No one any idea what it does. Your sunglass holder will still open and close as normal.
