So GM built 475,000 HD trucks and 875,000 1/2 ton trucks in 2015. I find those numbers hard to believe when you look at the number of 1/2 ton trucks on the road compared to 3/4 and 1 tons.

Doesn't apply to 1500's. Maybe in the future it will, lets hope not but for now it doesn't.
