Confused on headlights

Hi guys,

I tried poking around and reading the sticky on HID but its just too complicated. I have a 2015 Silverado LTZ and the headlights are just terrible. My last truck had HID and this one has the old school Holigen lights which are very yellow. I have a few questions.

1. Is there a simple plug and play solution to this? I tried looking on ebay and there are lots of replacement but I don't know what is good and what is bad.

2. Does it matter if its HID or LED?

3. Everything I have looked at has been 6000K which would appear to be too blue to me. Am I wrong in this assumption?

Thanks.

Retrofitsource has a silverado kit thats plug n play. It'll give you better output with the stock projectors but if you want to you can do a FXR retrofit to get the best bang for your buck. Thats a bit more hands on savvy type. I have no experience with LEDS but I like my hids. Also a 5500k or 4500k kit will get you close to white.

I have retro fit source HIDS in my low beam and my fog lights both are 650 0k. They are 10 times better then stock and I don't see and blue in them. And they were simple plug and play.

Have you seen/heard how the H11A bulbs work in a reflector housing... I've always gone by the impression that HIDs don't belong in reflector housing, yet the retrofit source offers a bulb for reflectors

I didn't order them yet but here is the Retrofit Source Morimoto kit that is plug-and-play:

Since you have an LTZ with projectors you need to order the H11B bulbs.

Id also be interested to know in the above, I need something to improve nighttime visibility but I don't have projectors & don't want to spend a bunch to get them. Anything more simple would be great.

No I haven't -- that's why I didn't purchase the kit yet. I have an electrical engineering background and know for a fact that reflector housings are NOT designed with HID bulbs in mind, that's why all OEM HID headlights come in projector housings. Until Retrofitsource/Morimoto can give me a good answer I'm not going to put HID's in reflector housings.

Now if you have an LTZ with projector housings I wouldn't hesitate to buy the kit from them ...

If you put hids in a reflector housing you're essentially just going to run high beams on at all times. You can spend an extra 120 and retrofit them to mini h1s with some work.

Would you mind sharing what Retrofit/Morimoto advises you? I was going to e-mail them myself with the question for the H11A bulb

I have a set from retrofit source in my 1t sierra and they are bright! I have the 55 ballast with 5000k bulbs...would be better with an upgraded projector but compared to stock the are night and day. Had mine for almost a year now and no issues with them.
