Way to stick it GM

I just bought a 14 SLT Sierra with around 50k miles on it. It has the philips 9012 HIR bulbs in it. The high beam performance isnt outstanding but to be honest im failing to see what the big fuss is about. Yes i wish these came with at least an HID option.. but i personally dont think theyre that bad. Im a die hard GM fan... but electronics are not their forte. I had ordered parts for an HID projector upgrade before i even tested these lights out.

Only vehicle ive had with decent headlights from them was Corvettes. After a proper HID retrofit i think ill REALLY love this truck though

I traded my 2014 Silverado on a 2015 Silverado because I wanted the texting feature and siri pass through. I traded my 2015 Silverado on a 2016 Silverado because I wanted apple carplay.

I can completely see GM's logic here... it put me into 3 trucks inside of 3 years... they are really smart or I am really dumb. The more likely answer is a good combination of both lol

Nothing wrong with an excuse to buy a new truck is there? I just hope I can find an excuse for a 2017... they better change something lol

I don't get it. I have a 15 and think the headlights are great. Would rather have them then the LED and the new ugly front end.

I would however like them to address the spot in the dash that I always hit my knee on getting in the truck. Starting to hurt.

I wasn't satisfied with my headlights until I had the update done. New bulbs and they increase the voltage to the headlights through the BCM.

Once the update is done, there is nothing to complain about, honestly. If I want more light, I will install more lights. Keep things practical. Heck, even 20 years ago brand new vehicles came with extremely low grade plain jain bulbs in cheap faded plastic housings. People still drive old beaters today with completely faded headlight assemblies, and THAT is safe?

Honestly if you think these headlights are unsafe, adjust your driving style. Never overdrive your light projection, rule of thumb. I swear nowadays people think they should be able to see the moon with a new vehicle.

Maybe it is just me but the lights on my 2002 seem way brighter than the HID's on my 2013 Camaro. I do like the whiter light of the HID setup over halogen.

HID's wont fix the issue with coverage either since it is a reflector issue and focal point issue that determines beam spread and coverage.

they're not reflector they're projectors.. i have a 15 2500hd and the lighting was awful ... i bought a 55 watt hid and now its very good

Yup another lights thread, no we don't have a problem with our professional grade headlights on out 14/15 Sierra's no really that's not why we redesigned our 1500 front end and lights, really...

Nope that's not why the 2016 2500 get hid's now, really, ya really,

Was at service today and they brought a new 16 denali to install bug guards I was blown away, we went through part numbers and definitely seems there not interchangeable, expensive as hell like $2xx expensive, and u know what I would probably do it,

Thanks GM/GMC

I understand your frustration. But they always do little tweaks to make the trucks better. It happens with all brands. I wanted push start fob setup. But they don't have it in the trucks yet. I'm sure they will soon. If no one ever created the new better lights on any vehicle you would think you had great lights. A had an 2003 Silverado and I thought and still do think they where great.
