m3n00b Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I'm almost positive the gas cap SAYS to run 91 in the 6.2 Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk It says premium 91 recommended. -tapa
scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 If it's on the gas cap, that should be what u run. I know it doesn't say "91 recommended...but you can run 87 " Yes you CAN run 87, you can run whatever u want in an engine fuel wise, doesn't mean it's good for it. I don't understand ppl getting these 6.2 that says right on the gas cap 91 octane and go ahead and stick 87 in it. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk

Imcrazy Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Maybe it's my imagination but, I put a tank of 89 in my 5.3 powered Silverado and I think it's running better.
scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Yup it's your imaginationHardly see that it's imagination considering the knock it pulls and the timing advance it pulls on 87 Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
SlavO Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Well i ONLY put exxon or shell gas in.. Mine has drove great for 66,+++ miles. Even better since i put the 87 tuner on. For real gm knows way more then an of us... just use what they recommend. Im sure some people have lemons but that's not even 1% of are trucks engines. Ive hand mine for 2 years in May. Not 1 person I've talked to about their truck in real life in person had a bad thing to say... and i would say about 4 people a week ask me about my truck in just the last year. 14/15 are everywhere around here now... gl with yours tho. Hopefully i get a 16 soon tho.. love the new look.
scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 So...when ppl ...and people who do this professionally...have pulled logs that blatantly show that they pull high amounts of knock ect from 87 octane gasoline..... The fact that these trucks feels sluggish and like shit a quick tune wakes that right up too points more to their genius The manufacturer would never lie for many reasons I suppose... Anyway yes you do you, I'll do me Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Not sure what u r trying to show with the 17.2 mpg, these trucks are claimed for 30 remember(that was a joke) ;-) Lifted guys tuned properly are running consistent 20s.. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk People can say whatever pics of 30 mpg or. 20mpg. Not happening i baby mine im only leveled on 275/60/20. It matters a lot where u live as well. Colder temperatures hurt big time
scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Colder intake temperatures hurt power....what? Do you....nope...nope nevermind..nope I'm done Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk

scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I just didn't get why u posted a picture of your cluster with mpg on it. Considering the topic of conversation. There's plenty, search around, I found several threads containing it all last night alone I just have no idea wtf u are getting at with any of ur pics. The mpg bit was a joke on my part. As we were talking about the effects of 87 octane on these engine and u post ur gauge cluster and ur truck on a jack...I just don't know what ur getting at Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
scottie350 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Never said power, can u read? Nice truck btwWell what are u getting at? You didn't say anything but "cold weather hurts" hurt what? We are talking about he effects of 87 octane on a high compression engine, therefore does it hurt octane rating aka make knock worse? Nope hot air does that. Does it rob mpg? Once the truck is up to temperature and ur INTAKEING that cold air, you'll actually see more power, power to weight should actually see better gas mileage then hot weather So yes I can read, I just have no clue what ur getting at And also Thank you haha Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
